Jack O'Neil Giles - Class '55
Meridian, Mississippi

While attending Clarke College I was called O'Neil, which is my middle name, however it is also often a sir name. This caused much frustration, so I soon reverted to my first name, Jack. I discovered this website just last night and am delighted. I want to share with my fellow Alumni that I have published two books and am on the verge of publishing another one. The first book is called "Unmasking Guerrilla Warfare in the Church." The heart of this book is an allegory, which I believe that God gave to me. This book considers the seriousness of intolerance, bigotry, prejudice and racism in the church of Jesus Christ. The beauty of this book is that an effective, workable solution is offered for these problems. Dr.Fred Wolfe and Jack Taylor a noted evangelist have endorsed this effort. The second work is called " I ncredible Treasures Awaiting Discovery." Twenty one legends of lost or buried treasure has been carefully researched and chronicled. this book is a back door app!

roach to the heart of men. Someone has said tht all men dream of finding lost treasure. The plan of salvation is clearly shared as a natural part of the book. Also, the next to last chapter is called "The Greatest of All Treasure" which of course is Jesus Christ. The last chapter is entitled, "The Treasure That Defies Comprehension," which is the Kingdom of God. Both books are intriguing. Anyone intrested may email me about them. The last book is endorsed by Paul Ott Carruth, a well known Christian outdoorsman and pastor Mike Boles who calls it a masterpiece.

Martha Louise Wilson (Hughes) was buried on Saturday August 9, 08 in Anahauc, Texas. She left her husband of 51+ years, four children and seven grand-children and her sister Sarah/Aaron Lewis and a host of Clarke College friends. She had suffered a battle of Cancer but now enjoys the pleasures eternity gives to all God's family. All of us can now say thanks to God for the contribution He made to us through Martha.

The web site is great. Thanks to all who worked on it. I attended Clarke 1954-1956 as Sara Ann Lewis. When I was at Clarke we were on terms so I finished in March of 1956. I left Clarke and worked in Chatham, AL until my Home Mission appointment to work with the Deaf in Los Angles, CA for the summer of '56.

After arriving at Fresno for orientation my appointment was changed and I went to San Francisco to work with the Chinese. My appointment was changed because the only place for me to live was with the single pastor (in those days that was not done). My experience with the Chinese was great and fruitful. We built a lasting friendship even unto today. I returned home and married my high school sweetheart (not a Clarke person) and went on to Miss State University to finish my BS. We left State and went to N. C. State for Joe's masters and Ph. D.. I taught elementary school for all those years.

By this time we had our daughter, Joy. We left N. C. State and went to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA for 15 years. Our son Allen was born in Blacksburg. In 1980 we came back to MS and bought a farm between Union and Decatur. Joe was working for Miss State as a plant pathologist and I was an elementary teacher . In 1981 our son was killed in an automobile accident. We finally put our life back together and are now retired to the farm. I learned the sign language from Illa Ruth Jennings, a deaf student at Clarke and one of my roommates. I have been able to use my sign language in many situations. I taught many of my students in the classroom the sign language.

Those things we learned at Clarke stood us well though the years. I would love to hear from my classmates. Remember our Clarke reunion is the third Saturday in April . If you don"t get a notice just come anyway but please let us know you are coming. I am presently the secretary of the Clarke College Association so let me hear from you if you have news or questions. "Clarke College" ... hey, it still has a special ring to it, and you can sometimes hear the class bells calling ... I often think of the experiences of 1955-1958 and find continued strength in relationships established on campus ... I do appreciate CCAA continuing to remind Clarke students of their "up bringing" ... and how "those years" can penatrate the future, even yet, to the glory of Jesus Christ! Remember, always, Whose you are and live accordingly. God Bless America and God Bless Jerusalem (Ps.122.6).

Hello Clarke family--I went to Clarke from Sept.1957-1959 and would love to hear from any one of those years. I graduated in l959 and married Charles Harville of the 1960 class. We had 2 boys and 2 girls from32-44 yrs of age. One a deacon in my church, one a music director in a local church, one a pianist and a member of Gideon society who also sings whenever needed. The youngest has a young family and is an executive secretary in a Methodist Elderly care facility in Tupelo,

Miss Charles went to glory in 2000 with kidney failure after having served for 49 years in the Lord's Army. We both loved
Clarke and I still love her.
